LOST LINK BETWEEN EDUCATION AND ECONOMY: WEAK STATE IN MONGOLIA AND POLITICAL RESPONSE TO HIGHER EDUCATION REFORM
Abstract
This study investigates how weak state and political response explain the relationship
quality between education and economy. The study used phenomenological research to find answers
to its research questions. We utilized deductive content analysis with three preconceived criteria or
themes to analyze qualitative data we collected through face-to-face interviews and secondary
sources. The findings of this content analysis reveal that weak state and political response weakens
national education policy rational, policy sustainability and societal impact for making economic
growth through investments in human capital and education. This gains good evidence to the claim
that state behaviors explains the linkage between education and economy.
